The 11th Flying Pig Marathon is Sunday, May 3, 2009

Volunteering with the Flying Pig Marathon
Are you a member of a non-profit organization, school, church, or community group looking for a way to fundraise? The Pig may be your group’s opportunity to be part of a fun event AND to raise a little cash for your cause. Last year, over 60 groups volunteered with the marathon and received a donation for their efforts. The Flying Pig needs approximately 4000 Grunts to assist in nearly every facet of marathon weekend. From stuffing bags to cleaning up at the finish line and everywhere in between. Click here to learn about some of the volunteer opportunities available for groups. For more details of the Group Volunteer Program, contact our Volunteer Coordinator mary@flyingpigmarathon.com.

The Flying Pig Kids Marathon
This program (now in its 11th year) is a terrific way to inspire kids to develop healthy habits for life. Participating students in grades K-6 can walk, run, or wheelchair the 26.2 mile distance of a marathon (in increments) during the months leading up to the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon. They also are encouraged to meet good nutrition and health challenges along the way. The final mile of the Flying Pig Kids Marathon can be completed on the actual marathon course in a special event on Saturday, May 2nd. Finishers will receive a marathon medal, t-shirt, and goodies deserving of a true marathoner. For more information, contact Robin Pendery at robin@flyingpigmarathon.com.
This program is in partnership with The Nutrition Council (link) of Cincinnati.

Running or Walking for a Charity
Want more meaning from your miles? Then run or walk for a cause at the Flying Pig Marathon. Dozens of charities partner with the Flying Pig Marathon each year to raise money for their causes, and you can join them. Many of them have training programs you can be part of, or gather pledges and raise money from each mile. Either way, you'll feel good while you're training, and feel better knowing you're helping others. Check our charity list here on the website and make your miles count even more.
